Sunday drive to Navajo lake

Update on Kyla's health
My Kyla is my spunky little girl that I thought always ate pretty healthy. She'd opt for wheat germ on ice cream over nuts. One of her fav snacks is a box of shredded mini wheats.
Healthy right?
Not for someone with Celiac disease.
As you all know Kyla was recently tested for diabetes. We're very thankful tests came out negative.
So what caused jumping blood sugars? She has also been having stomache pains, diariah, and knee pains in the night. Two nights ago she had a scary fever of 104.7 that would not break, even with taking Tylenol and Ibuprophen. We were advised to take her to ER with the concern of her apendix. Many tests and 6 hrs. later,we went home luckily with apendix intact. Diagnoses: unknown.
The next morning we saw our family doc who confirmed that tests that were taken previously came back positive for being Celiac. This is a disease that will be with her for the rest of her life.
Celiac disease is a digestive diease that damages the small intestines and interferes with the absorption of nutrients from food. People who have Celiac disease cannot tolerate gluten, a protein in wheat, rye, and barley. This pretty much includes almost all bread, pasta, crackers, cookies... anything that has flour in it. We are very thankful to know what has been causing her ailments, thankful that it can be controlled with diet, and thankful it's not more seriouse!! That being said, this is a huge life change for us! I'm feeling a little overwhelmed thinking about what to feed her each day. I'm confident that as we become more knowledgable, things will get easier.

WEEDS
We had fun last night working together as a family pulling weeds that were taking over our front yard. Even Brendan joined in on the fun. He especially enjoyed the puddle left from the sprinkler. Boys and their love of mud!!

Great G-ma Johnson had 13 kids, each of those 13 had at least 4 of their own, who knows how many they had! The reunion had over 200 people!! It was nice to get aquaited with relatives
I knew and didn't know.
The reunion events included a flooded tent, trying to find a laundromat in an unfamiliar town, getting a new tent for my birthday:), Visiting Gma Hunter:), Attempting to play volleyball with my fav cousin Angie Beard and my Sis who talked me into it (Funny how their was no complaints as I snuck off the court! For those of you who don't know, Volley ball and I don't really go together), Iron Chef competion, Fun by the camp fire, and good ol capture the flag (I was nick named "Firecracker" at this event when my Brit got hurt by big boys playing too rough with little kids. OK, I admit it, and yes, I feel a little bad for "blowing up" in front of people who don't know me very well, but you just don't mess with my kids!!!) All in all we made some great memories. The opportunity to spend time with the people you love makes it all worth it!!!!!

Vacation
Grand Tetons We recently got back from vacation. This picture proves that God is the greatest artist of all. One of the highlights of our vacation was enjoying the beautiful outdoors that was created for us! We have not been to a family reunion on my side for 12yrs. We enjoyed getting aquainted with relatives. Most of all I enjoyed spending time with my Mom, Sis, Bro, cousin Angie, Grandma Hunter and our immediate families! After the reunion we travelled up to Jackson Wyoming, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. It was Gorgeouse! I'll post more pics later!

Oh my, Oh my, Oh My...I don't know what else to say! My little Kyla bug is going to be a 1st grader! Oh my!!!!! Where does the time go? Where's the OFF switch!!!! I'm sitting here blogging my baby's 1st bday, My Brits going into 5th grade and now my little Kyla is no longer in Kindergarten, this seriously makes me weepy!!!!
Kyla's had an AWESOME Kindergarten year!!!We have befriended another wonderful teacher! Mrs. Jodie McCarville! Kyla completely loves her Kindergarten teacher who is beautiful inside and out!!!Her and best bud Leeah enjoyed a great year together with a great teacher! My sweet Kyla, like big sis, also got a citizenship award! Only 2 or 3 kids in each class get this award. I'm so proud of my sweet girls!!!!
McKinley just built a new school. The old school was demolished yesterday. I wanted a pic of the kids in front of the old school. Kyla's poor class had to endure a lot of sun in their eyes for me to accomplish this! Silly me I should have let them go to the side of the school. Brits end of the year BBQ

"The best field trip ever!"
was how the kids in Brits class described their day on the way home. They were all completely soaked in muddy water from the Brookside Park steam. Dads came and helped bbq hamburgers and hot dogs. Teachers helped out and also joined in on the fun. As you can see from the pic on the top, Mrs. Siodla and I had a blast sliding down the skate board ramp after checking out some baby birds in the ramps pole. Isn't it great...the things kids can talk us into? After a busy morning, Brendan was enjoying a nap in the shade.
Before the field trip the 4th grade had an awards assembly. I was very proud of my Brit who got a citizenship award for being such a sweetie, a music award, and an award for getting all A's and B's the whole year. Every report card was straight A's with the exeption of one B or B+ on each card, she said it's because she's bad at math. I wish I was so bad at math that I could only get a B+!!! I'm very proud of her and glad she didn't inherit my memory!

Britanie and Bendans Favorite teacher
Mrs. Murray Britanie and Brendans Favorite Teacher!!!
With Britanies love of Harry Potter since she was 3, we couldn't have matched her with a better teacher! Mrs. Murray loves and makes Harry Potter a huge fun deal in her classroom! She has helped encourage Brit with her love of writing, she takes an interest in her students and really cares for them. This was the first year ever that Brit woke up sad on her last day of school, she said she was going to miss her teacher and class!
And as for Brendan, or should I say "Mac" ?? The priciple, Mrs. Ellison dubbed Brendan as a new school mascot and nicnamed him Mac, short for McKinley. Him and I have been at the school almost as much as the girls. Brendan has the staff wrapped around his fingers. He loves them. Especially Celeste Murray and his fav office pal Jenifer Caliendo!!! We have made some great friends!! Thanks Celeste for a great year!

I can't believe our little boy is 1yrs old!!!
I can't believe our little boy is 1yrs old!!!Brendan can say mama, dada, Bite (when he wants a bite of whatever you're eating, which is whenever anyones eating anything!), and his favorite word is Hi!
He's learned quickly that when he says "hi" in the irresistable way he does, and waves his little hand, he can get Anyones attention!!!
He has also learned to walk. slow and steady like. He usually takes a few steps and then impatiently gets down on his knees where he's mastered going fast.
His other favorites include noodles of any kind, playing with his big sisters, Seeing Dada when he gets home from work, eating rocks in the front yard, and playing in the bathtub. His fav toys are cars and especially balls. It is the cutest thing to watch him hit around a ball and crawl after it, He looks like a soccer player on knees!
I have loved this last year watching him grow.
And even though I miss him being so small, as we watch his sweet personality develope, we fall in love with him a little more everyday! Who knew that we could be capable to love so much!!!
