18 months old

My little guy is officially a year and a half old!

He is looking and acting a lot more like a little boy. He vrooms his cars, rars at dinosaurs, and wows at tractors! I love his sound effects! Are all boys born with this ability?

One day after helping daddy build with the drill, he found one of my glue guns (turned off) and pretended to fix things around the house while making drill sounds. I love that he's still pretty much a mama's boy! There is nothing else that can make me smile more than one of his tight cuddly hugs!

The newest member of our family. We found him on Friday the 13th trying to cross a busy street. After many failed attempts to find his owner, we have officially adopted him!

Things we take for granted

Last night the girls relunctantly watched the old classic movie The Blob with Jamie and I. It made me giggle when the teens in the movie couldn't get people to believe them about the jello like monster that was taking over their town, the girls asked "Why don't they just take a picture?" Like duh, it's so easy to take out your cell phone!
It made me start to think of all the things we take for granted that we didn't have 50 or even 20 years ago. I wonder what great technology we will have in 20 years from now?
Disposable (recyclable) clothes might be nice! (Hate Laundry). Or flying cars? It would be nice to have a faster means to go visit my mom in Idaho!

I took my girls out of school early today for a feild trip to the library.

We met David Catrow,

an illustrator for childrens books. He also designed the characters for the movie

Horton Hears a Who

A little bit about David Catrow:
David Catrow's favorite subject in school was math. Why? Well, Mr. Hirsch's class was where Catrow did some of his best drawings! Catrow's zany illustrations have illuminated over 30 books for kids, and his editorial cartoons are syndicated in more than 900 newspapers in the U.S. and Canada. Not bad for someone who started out as a pre-med major at Kent State and later worked as a paramedic for ten years. During this time Catrow also worked as a freelance artist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Akron Beacon-Journal. Art finally emerged as his definitive career, and he's never stopped since. Catrow's illustrations in Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon by Patty Lovell make you fall instantly in love with the short, clumsy, and buck toothed Molly Lou. He continues his spirited style of illustration in his newest book, We the Kids. In this book, Catrow makes understanding the Preamble to the Constitution accessible to children and even fun!
His work in She's Wearing a Dead Bird on Her Head earned Catrow recognition when it was named the New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year in 1995. Catrow's watercolor and crayon illustrations for Take Me Out of the Bathtub, a collection of sing along traditional tunes set to loopy new lyrics, were praised for their cartoon-like absurdity and outlandish nature. And his slimy and goopy illustrations of a school science project gone awry in The Fungus That Ate My School make you want run for your life! Catrow's clever Dr. Seuss-like lively fungus overtakes a whole school while morphing itself into familiar school staff members — it's a laugh aloud read at its best!
This amusing illustrator and his wife, Deborah, live in Ohio and have two children. When asked what would be the one thing he would like to learn to do, Catrow replied that he'd like to learn to catch a Frisbee with his teeth! It's this same offbeat sense of humor that truly colors his art. There's no doubt that Catrow's work has brought chuckles, smiles and even smirks to the young and old.

We allready own and love the book Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon. Kyla picked this new book to buy~ I Ain't Gonna Paint No More! Kyla was SO excited to talk to him while he autographed her book!! My girls both agree that watching him draw was their favorite part of the trip. They especially liked when he would squiggle draw. He had children draw squiggles on the board and then he would draw a really cool picture out of it!

Thankful to have such a great library and opportunity!

Brendan 16 months old

My sweet boy He goes and goes until he can't go any more. He is eating, growing, and talking more everyday. When he learns a new word, he says it over and over again. It reminds me of the birds on Nemo Saying "mine, mine, mine". His favorite words are "bite" when he wants to eat or drink something, and "on" whenever he wants, well, obviously to turn something on, usually the TV or fan.

Brendan Loves cuddling up his big sister Brit. It's the cutest thing when he softly pats her on the back. These are the moments when I think all kids should be spaced 10 yrs apart.

Wow, how time flies!!!!!

Funniest thing that happened since I last wrote~ Brendan found red food coloring, That kid can open ANYTHING! As I go to wash him, of course he has to grab my hair. My hair was pink for days! I wish I would have taken a picture! Everyone that saw me thought I did it on purpose. LOL~ I got great compliments, maybe I should!
Yes, it's been 2 months since I last blogged! Which is why it is now almost 1am and I'm just now finishing up the catch up game. Life is good! I'm staying busy as normal. Kids are growing faster than I can handle, and my sweet husband is still the best Father and Husband a gal could ask for! I have great friends. I waste too much time on Face Book these days, which is probably one of the reasons I'm so behind on this. But I love it. It is so much fun to get reaquainted with friends and family on it. Not to mention becoming better friends with the friends I have now. I stay busy serving in the primary presidency (Love Primary), PTO president (crazy, I know), Working at the school as the Volunteer coordinator(Great job! I can bring my Brendan and work as many hrs as I want.) Costume Design/ seamstess for the Girl's dance studio, and just being a mom and wife(Best job in the world!!!) I'm most bummed that my baby is now a toddler that has to investigate everything! No more sitting in the cart at the store contently, no more 3 hr naps and lots and lots of messes.

Brit gets her ears peirced

On the day of Britanies Birthday, I suprised her by taking her out of school to have lunch with 2 of her good friends. Afterwards we got her ears peirced. She was very nervouse and tried to back out a couple of times. But in the end she was brave and loves her new look!!!

Brit And friends had WAY too much fun at her party. Wizard theme, Wizard's of Waverly Place actually. We made bubble bath potions, pin the wand on the wizard, made wands, and had a Slumber party in her Uncles One Stop Game Shop, which is a very awesome business he has built in this trailer. It has big flat screen T.V.'s that you can play video games on! He rents it out for Birthdays and other special events. the girls played video games and watched movies pretty much all night! I think they enjoyed the Guitar Hero the most! The pictures you see are the girls after a chocolate pudding eating contest. Fun, fun times! My friend and I were washing pudding off the walls in very odd places the next day, it was Everywhere! Thanks Jen for helping with clean up!!!

Yummy Cinnamon Roll

Went to Albuquerque in September. We LOVE the Whole Foods Store there!!! Kyla got lots of Gluten free goodies including this gluten free fresh baked cinnamon roll from the bakery. So yummy!!! I wish I could figure out how to make them. Better yet, lets transplant a Whole Foods to Farmington!

August brings Back to School and the County Fair. Brit started the 5th grade and Kyla is now a 1st grader. They both have great teachers and are doing wonderful! Both have straight A's as of the end of September. Kyla's teacher says she's a leader and Fun to have in class! Brit's teacher says she's wonderful, smart, and sweet! All these things we allready know, but it's nice to hear! We are very proud of them both!!! Kyla's doing great with her celiac! She's gained the weight she lost and feels a lot better. Her class mates think it's pretty cool she gets Frito Pie almost everyday for lunch! My Brendan is well too. Just growing more than I'd like him to. Nothing new there. He misses his sisters during the day and loves when they come home!
